Shep’s Closet Nursery

September 23, 2020

This reveal is long overdue, but of course in third baby fashion his nursery wasn’t complete until well after he was born! Even this teeny little space took a good amount of time to decorate and finalize. I will say, I never expected his nursery to turn out so cute. I dreaded giving up my closet / mini work space, but it ended up being the most adorable and functional set up for an infant. After all, it was truly the perfect size and was perfect for our needs. We live in a 3 bedroom home, so when we found out Shep was a boy and Sully was still a toddler needing his own space we knew we had to get creative to offer each child their own individual space for naps and sleeping arrangements. Sully was still napping at the time and when you’ve got a good thing going you don’t want to rock it. My master closet is right off of our master loft space. It was the perfect separate space for a newborn needing to be near mom for late night feeds and changes. I really loved having him so close by that first whole year. Made life a lot easier in so many ways.

Around 15 months we started thinking how he could join Sully in his room since they both had a pretty consistent and similar sleep schedule. Both boys are about 8- 7:30/8 each night and morning so really it made sense to move him back downstairs. When Shep turned 18 months we took down his nursery and covered his space back to my master closet. For now, Shep is in his Baby Bjorn pack and play, and we hope to move him into the bottom bunk bed soon. He loves that pack and play and it just didn’t make sense to put his crib entirely back up and crowd their room with it. He is such a good baby and loves ‘his bed’ space. Thankfully he hasn’t ever attempted to climb out either and happily sits on the bottom bunk without crawling out either. It will take some time, but I think he will transition well to a bed very soon. He seems so little to be in a bed, but he’s also like no baby we’ve ever had so we are tailoring things to suit him.

I’ve listed sources below at the very end, I hope you enjoy getting a peak around his nursery! Already missing this sweet space 💙
