Sully’s First Birthday: Woodland Rabbit Birthday Party
November 14, 2016I cannot believe we are just 2 days away from celebrating Sullivan’s first birthday! Most moms will tell you that the first year flies by, and it does! But, I also feel like it was a lot slower than I expected. Since Sully was my second, I know too well how quickly things go, so I tried to really enjoy this first year and celebrate all the little things. These babies make life busy, but they slow me down too, and I get to take in little unexpected moments of joy.
If you have been following my blog for awhile (plus the lifestyle blog days) you know I have bunny rabbit obsession! With Scarlett, her whole nursery was bunnies and her first birthday was bunny themed as well. And, it just so happens her birthday is around Easter so it was perfect. I am sucker for tradition and wanted to do something similar for Sully. So, I thought this time of year is perfect for a woodland/wild hare/rabbit theme! I kept things simple, sweet, and fun! Soft blues, white, and a light brown rabbit were my main colors. I honestly pulled this together the day of the party. I had a vision, but had no idea how it would really turn out. Thanks to my mom, mother in law, and aunt who helped orchestrate all the party decor and food- seriously could not have done it without them! My mom made that precious ‘Sully’ banner with all his pictures from 0-12 months! She did such a good job with it! I loved the personal touches that went into the party. While we had several things made by others, we also had several things made by friends and family which is so special. For his favors, we did a bag of “to go” s’mores and I hand wrote the little “Take home S’more fun!” messages! It worked out really well because we were able to light a fire and roast a few marshmallows with our guests. We are so incredibly thankful for all of our friends and dear family who traveled from Louisiana and Tennessee just to be with us! It really meant the world to us and we felt so ‘at home’ with family there. We definitely miss that the most!
The party couldn’t have gone more perfectly! The food menu alone was incredible: gumbo, jambalaya, spinach dip, snap bean and artichoke casserole, crab dip, little PB&J’s for the kids, fruits, veggies, and a salad. Everything was so good! I have some talented chefs in my family! I want to tell y’all (especially if you are local in Birmingham) that Hannelmore from Wild Ginger Chef was seriously so awesome to work with! She created a gluten free smash cake, cupcakes, cookies, and matching non gluten free big cake to match the smash cake. I gave her my invitation as inspiration and she exceeded my expectations! Not only that, but the cake she made was seriously the best cake I have ever tasted- no lie! It was so dense and I could have eaten the icing alone. I am not an icing person, but this was delicious. Highly recommend her for any of your food, meal, baking, catering needs! And a big shout out to Katie from The.G00d.Stuff who took my million ideas in my head and created the most beautiful custom invitation for Sully! I mean, isn’t it just precious? She is so talented you guys!

Hi-I am just looking through your photos of Sully’s birthday since I am planning my baby boy’s first birthday! It looked like it was beautiful! Would you mind sharing where you got the banner you used outside with the pendants that say Sully? I wasn’t sure where to get a banner made with my son’s name!
Thanks,
Veronica

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words! That banner was actually made by my mom. She said she found those letters at hobby lobby and just strung them together. I hope this helps 🙂
