8 At Home Date Night Ideas For Parents

There are always those Friday and Saturday nights when the baby is sleeping and it is 8 o’clock and Mama and Daddy want to have fun, too. It is hard because you are stuck in your own home  and aren’t able get a babysitter every weekend. You want to do something different and mix it up from the average week night. During the weekends most parents are confined to their own home, that is the best time to try to come up with exciting things to do to keep yourselves entertained when you can’t leave the house. This is also the time you most likely bond the most with your spouse. Sure there are lots of things on the web that are creative and over the top, but most parents don’t even think about what they are doing that night until after the children are asleep. These ideas are easy and most are already at your home!

Game Night: Break out the cards for some rummy, Jenga for some intense concentration, checkers for laid back fun,

Beer Tasting: Grab a variety pack at the store of beers or wines that you haven’t tried before and do a tasting! If you do wine, be sure to pick up some cheese. And, for beer, grab some soft pretzels.

Cooking: It is exciting to try a new recipe together that each of you may have not made before. Try boiling lobster or grilling a steak with a new marinade. After dinner, start a new show together that only you watch with each other.

Our new show is Game of Thrones! Any other fans here?

Backyard: Move out to the backyard for a little campfire, star gaze and look up different stars to look for, make smores,

Theme the night: Make a theme for the night and have you and your spouse dress up, cook food pertaining to the theme, play similar music, and decide on a movie that fits that theme as well.

Our pick: Mexican theme. Dress up in a flawy dress (girl) and a pancho (guy), cook fajitas and sopapillas, play the soundtrack from Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and watch Fools Rush In.

Enjoy the fireplace: Even if it’s summer, just light some candles instead, lay out a blanket, read a book together, or tell your favorite stories about one another.

Get in the tub: Take a bubble bath together and give each other massages. Don’t forget the candles!

Get Moving: Learn a line dance or the dance routine to a favorite new song! Dirty Dancing, anyone? You’ll be surprised at how much fun you will have being silly and active together!

What are some of your favorite things to do for in home date nights? Would love to hear some other ideas!

Great ideas! We love making the most of the time we have together after Kennedy has gone to bed. Our favorite thing to do is watch Netflix while giving massages. 🙂
