Sneak Peek | Scarlett’s Floral and Pink Buffalo Check Big Girl Room
July 12, 2017
So many of y’all have been patient with me over the last several months while I compiled everything for Scarlett’s big girl room! I’ve finally got the ball rolling and am so excited to share a descent sneak peek of her room and what we’ve been working on. From the very beginning I’ve been drawn to feminine, classic, and romantic pieces for her room. You can see her nursery reveal here, from our previous home, and it has that floral, whimsy, and classic feel as well. It kind of breaks your mama heart when you have to take down a nursery and plan for a new room. Good thing that it’s mostly very fun, so I didn’t feel sappy for too long 😉 Most of y’all know our kids shared a room for about 8 months until we couldn’t take it anymore haha! We planned on that panning out way longer, but no one was sleeping. We made a spontaneous weekend decision to completely switch rooms by separating the kids rooms and to rid of our playroom loft area so that we could make that our new “master suite”. Y’all we were so desperate that we moved into that space without even having a plan for air conditioning and heating! Thankfully it was Feb/March so we made it just fine with a warm blanket, but come May we panicked and installed a window unit until we figure out how we will renovate that space further. Okay, I’ve gotten way off track here, and y’all just came for the pretty pictures! So, here those are! Cannot wait to get the final reveal to y’all in the next few months!
Joel installing our beautiful roman shades from The Shade Store (c/o)! I decided to go with a classic white roman shade for her room because I love a good pop of white. Especially after all the pink we have incorporated. The white really mellows out the room and keeps things bright and airy feeling. We have been so pleased with the roman shades! They are cordless, so we feel so comfortable having them in her room since she is still curious at times. The Shade Store was so wonderful and helpful to work with- we are so grateful for all the design help and phone call chats to help us get everything squared away. I would have roman shades in every room if I could, they are beautiful and so classic looking. It’s amazing how a shade has transformed her room and made it look so pulled together and neat! I cannot wait to put the last touch on the windows by adding a monogram balance across her windows, it is a dream of mine to pull that together! Luckily I have a very talented mama who is amazing at sewing! Cannot wait to see what she comes up with!
So many of y’all LOVED my instagram post when I shared Scarlett’s acrylic shelving! I researched this shelving A LOT because I know some are not made as well. I can testify to that because I went cheap on Sully’s and totally regret it. These are so roomy, made well, and were super easy to install. It pays to spend the extra! Then, I could not pass up this classic light switch plate that I spotted while shopping for myself. It’s the perfect accent! Books on top shelf: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 . Bottom shelf: 1 | 2 | 3Â . Stuffed Flamingo here.
Something I was very excited about was putting a dainty little chandelier in her room! I stumbled across Amalfi Decor and ordered this one (c/o)! It has been such a perfect accent piece in her room. And under $100 was such a great price point! Scarlett calls this her process light and that makes me smile every time I hear her say it! This final touch was what won Scarlett over when we ibruduced her to her new room!
The color and fabric scheme about made me lose my marbles, y’all. I will not lie! I have the best neighbors ever who are just so design savy and they helped me pull all the linens for her bed together. At one point I just could not envision it all together and it was impossible for me to decide. They were amazing in helping me navigate what fabric to put where on her bed and pillows. So, I do not deserve the credit on this one 😉 I am super happy with how things are looking. I am still waiting on her quilt coverlet that matches the euro sham, but I know it’s going to pull everything together. I plan to put a simple monogram at the top of her euro sham, instead of doing the big duvet monogram I had on her previous comforter duvet. I will still be using that duvet, it has just been so hot in the summer that she is more comfortable with a light blanket. I’ll be pulling out that one during the winter months. I just sent off Scarlett’s charcoal portrait of her from when she was 18 months old and I cannot wait to pick out the framing and to get it back to hang above her bed!! It’s probably something I am most excited about since I’ve not had a place for it for so long and I will finally be able to show it off.

Another thing I am super excited to share is her closet! My Dad turned an ordinary deep old closet into the sweetest little spot with two bars stacked on top, a boxed in shoe spot, and storage shelving at the top. I mean, he outdid himself! We live in a very tiny house with lots of character, but something people did not build in the 40s were big closets! We had to make the most of the space and my Dad just did a phenomal job! Â
When we got the shade AND the black out drapes up, I just couldn’t contain my excitement! I immediately texted my neighbors to come over and see it and I had to take a few photos to show how beautiful it turned out! I absolutely love this combination and am feeling relieved about all my selections I made. Thank you to The Shade Store and Carousel Designs for making our windows so beautiful and to Amalfi Decor for adding that magical touch to Scarlett’s room! Those items really make the room and steal the show!
Thank you so much for reading this post, I am so excited to have you here reading all about it! As I am putting the final touches on her room– rugs, framing, wall decor, etc. I’d love any feedback you may have! Thank you for stopping by!
