Scarlett’s Madeline Themed Fourth Birthday Party
June 30, 2017I’ve dreamt about this theme for quite a few years and realized that this year may have been my last year to pull it all off. I am so glad I did! Scarlett went through a Madeline phase about 2-3 months before her birthday- thanks to Hulu having the series on their app! For the months before we introduced her to the show she told us she wanted a princess party for the longest- which I was already planning and counting on. Then she got hooked on the series and book and I thought I may be in luck 😉 I gently brought it up one day and she just ran wild with the idea! It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly! The planning was a bit harder than I thought just because all the details I thought I would do, just didn’t pan out, which is so fine. At the end of the day, it’s a 4 year old birthday party and we decorated enough to make it look like a parisian party!
My dream came to life when Paper & Play dropped these in my mailbox! I am still swooning over them and glad I have a few extra for keepsake! Paper & Play is so incredibly talented! Y’all have to check out her work here. She can turn any theme into a timeless classic through an invitation. She amazes me! And, do y’all see the sweetness of those envelope liners?! I mean, cuteness overload! She made my dream a reality! And when you get to her site, you will see she also has the most adorable labels, note pads, and much more! So much southern sweetness!Â
I knew immediately after I received the invitation that I had to hustle and get a dress to match Madeline. I was not having any luck finding an exact replica, so I went the southern mom way and had someone custom make the blue ticking stripe top and bloomer set and then had Little Chunky Monkeys embroider it. I mean, she blew me away with that Madeline on each side of her initial! it is one of those dresses I’m sure I’ll never let go of. She did everything I imagined and more!
Onto the party set up and decor! This was a super simple set up for us and I really didn’t buy much for her party, aside from plates, napkins, balloons, and a table runner. We had a lot of useful things left over from Sully’s party like the garland, the acrylic trays, and the cupcake stand. I wanted her party to be more easy going and geared towards the kids! We own the bounce house we used for the party (which is the best investment ever!) and had a face painter and balloon maker come to her party to entertain the kids. It was perfect and much more relaxing than I anticipated! The balloons and face paint were an obvious hit! We used Magic City Face Art for anyone in the Birmingham area! The lady they sent us was so amazing with the kids! We will definitely use them again! I struggled for awhile thinking how can I entrain the kids and keep with the Madeline theme. Then it hit me that Madeline goes to the circus and even went to the zoo. So face paint and balloons it was! I made cake pops the night before because I was so set on making them, and y’all… I vow to never make those things again! They weren’t terribly hard to make, it was just tedious, late at night, and my baking skills were not on par. We served them and they were delicious, but nope, not again for awhile!
Hopefully y’all enjoyed the party post! It was so much fun and all the kids really had a great time! Towards the end of the party, I found a kidz bop station and we played that station for the ‘adults’. So much fun! Scarlett already can’t wait for her next birthday “next week” haha!
