hello! and happy friday friends! i think today was the last day for most of the pre schools and mothers day out programs…. insert ‘shock face’ here! i am excited and very nervous for summer. each year i find myself on a roller coaster of emotions during the summer months. we will have really good and fun weeks, and the there are really hard weeks. those harder weeks usually entail lots of rain with indoor activities, a week where activities ended and we are bored, teething, sickness, or daddy is working a ton. it is too easy for me to get ovewhelmed during that time because my typical ‘escape’ of childcare is not as consistent as it is in the school year. last night i read a really sweet article that talked about how we only have 18 summers with our kids til they go off to college and do their own thing. and really, it’s probably less than 18 because kids get involved in sport camps, summer away camps, etc. so things can get shaken up before they graduate from high school. that being said, it made me teary eyed and a little sad. when my kids are this little, summer fun is solely dependent on how i take on the day… no pressure right? but, it did make me realize i need to be more optimistic about it. having a good outlook on summer and try to have a plan in place for the upcoming week. before i read the article, my husband mentioned how having a schedule and a plan each day would really help me, and i do think it will. he’s my number one supporter when it comes to summer months because he knows I’m balancing A LOT more than i am used to. during the summer when childcare is all over the place i juggle mom duties, wife duties, house duties, and my two part time jobs. for us, having some sort of child care is important for all of our sanities. since we have zero family here, those 4 hours a couple of times a week are so necessary. we do have camp set up, swimming lessons, vbs, and a few other activities set for the kids, but it will be an ‘all over the place’ kind of summer, and that typically makes me nervous. i am going to try my best to stay optimistic and have a plan each sunday night for what my week will look like so i don’t get overwhelmed. maybe i can even share some ideas/activities here to help anyone else who may be taking a similar approach to summer. let me know your thoughts on this & what your plans for summer look like 🙂
next, i wanted to share some favorites for this friday! the most purchased item from my instagram and blog this week was tie between this gingham top and this off the shoulder dress! So many of you said you already had that top and loved it! It’s only $22 which is such a great price! And, the dress has been selling like hot cakes, y’all! So many sizes were sold out when I share my blog post, but now it looks like they have re stocked so many sizes in different colors, so scoop one up if you missed your size a couple of days ago.Â
I wait literally every year for Emily Ley’s simplified planner to come out and Wednesday was the big day! She sold out of so many, and because I was so indecisive I missed out on the pattern I really wanted (the floral) and ended up getting the gold dot in the weekly version. It is still super adorable and I cannot wait for it to come in. This will be my fourth planner of hers, and I cannot live without them. I have gotten daily for the past 3 years and decided to try weekly since I felt I never filled the daily pages out like I Should have. Weekly is a tad smaller and I feel like I will fill up those empty spaces better. Who else ordered one, and what did you get?
Some things I scooped up this week and am anxiously waiting in the mail for…
this $13 cover up i plan to pair with my $22 scallop swimsuit and scallop bottoms // this ivory cross body tassel bag that will be perfect for our california trip coming up — so happy to leave the big bag at home // scooped up this white tie front tee to pair with All my shorts for summer– i was so low on basic tops // lastly, i picked up these adorable bicycle door mats for end of school teacher gifts– which they loved!! wrapped them in black and white gingham ribbon and attached a card that said “you Mat-ter to me”. They were adorable! I’m sad I didn’t take a picture.
i hope y’all have a WONDERFUL weekend friends! And don’t forget to subscribe to my email newsletter that I send only twice per month! I promise it’s super adorable, interesting, and a quick read 😉 sign up here!
