When I was pregnant in the fall of 2012 through early 2013, I rigorously researched all I could for the best baby products that were gender neutral and long lasting. I think I did a great job in selecting many of my registry items, but there were a few things I regretted not registering for and wished I had.
Rock n’ Play Sleeper
When our daughter was 4 weeks old, I tirelessly read so many raves about this product. Our daughter had horrible reflux, and we did not sleep much those first 4 weeks. We decided to make the purchase and were smitten right away. Our daughter slept 6-8 hours in it, and we kept her in there until her reflux was better. It was a lifesaver, and I recommend it to any mama. Traveling with the Rock n’ Play sleeper is also very easy and was preferred over a pack n play in the early days.
4Moms mamaRoo
We registered for the traditional swing and were happy with it, but only when our daughter was 2.5 months old did she tolerate it. The swing was too powerful for her, and she did not want to be in it until she was older. The MamaRoo was purchased later on when she was a bit older, and we realized what we had been missing. The position adjustment, many swing settings, music choice, and overall size really won us over. This would have been so nice to have in the early days, but we are glad to have it for future babies. Hopefully, we can add the Rock A Roo for the next baby, since that has equally great reviews!
HALO SleepSack
We registered for a ton of swaddle blankets but really didn’t do much research in this area. We quickly became fans of the HALO sleep sack when our daughter constantly broke out of her swaddle and woke herself up with her hands. HALO was the only one that really got the job done and she stayed put for a full nights rest.
Baby Jogger City Mini GT Single Stroller
We have the UPPAbaby Vista, BOB Jogger, and a Maclaren for quick trips. That is a lot of strollers. We absolutely love our UPPAbaby, BOB, and Maclaren, but we did not necessarily need the BOB or the Maclaren. I should have gotten the best of both worlds with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT instead and be down to two strollers. The City Mini GT is great for light running and walking. It collapses so easily and is small enough to not take up too much trunk space. I know for our next child I will be investing in this stroller as the double.
Video Monitor
We have the Summer Infant video monitor system, and it’s the biggest regret I have with my baby items. I wish I would have done more research on better quality monitors with good customer service. Summer Infant failed on all of these. We are currently stuck with a broken monitor that I cannot use without an extension cord. I am still beyond upset on this one. I wish I would have went with a brand like Lorex, InfantOptics, or Motorola. The links on ‘video monitor’ are all the brands I would suggest which had good reviews and ratings.
Do you have any items you wished you would have registered for? What items did you run out to get once baby arrived?

I whole-heartily agree with this entire list. We have the Motorola Video monitor and I love it! The other day I actually used the mic feature on it and spoke to Henry through it. I thought it might freak him out, but he actually listened to me and laid back down. It was awesome.
And we still use sleep sacks, even now that Henry is over a year old.

That is amazing! I’ve read about those features and wondered if Mom’s enjoyed that feature! So great that he responded well to it. I hear Motorola is amazing!

i don’t know how mama’s managed without the video monitor!!!!!
Brittany says
I don’t either ;P It has been a lifesaver for us since day 1!

YES YES YES on the monitor. We had the summer infant one too. We ended up upgrading to the Motorola one because we need to add a second camera. It really is the best!!!
Brittany says
Ahh, I am so glad to hear another Motorola lover! Makes me think we should just bite the bullet and get it! I know I’d be so happy to go outside for once and not have to run in a check the monitor every couple of minutes.

I’ve had a good experience with summer infant but I think it’s because I tagged them on IG when something was wrong with my monitor because I literally got a call from them right away. They resolved the issue and sent us a new monitor and it has been working perfectly since then. I would call them again and demand they send you a new one.
Brittany says
Wow, that’s really nice! It’s been ongoing for almost a year. I had a shouting match with them and never heard back. Taking action on IG or Twitter may be in the works. Thanks for sharing Veronika.
